So of the three people that are reading this, you don't need me to tell you that this show is just great, you already know that. I won't say that it's pure awesome because there are issues with it that aren't perfect, but even I can find flaws in Lost if I really tried. Speaking of Lost since I always bring it up, it is the benchmark after all, last nights Flashforward reminded me of "The Constant" from Lost season 4. When a sci-fi show can bring in enough emotional drama that even this guy that is considering buying the Blue Ray of "Fight Club" starts to get a little misty eyed, what can you say except that it's a great show. It also says that I have range in my tastes =)
Back in the days when I was depressed, let's call them up until about 10 years ago (how odd Fight Club came out 10 years ago, see the connection...) I had a saying that I would try to tell myself when I got down. "No matter how bad my day is, someone just got diagnosed with terminal cancer." So Brice was really having a bad day at the start of the episode. And all of a sudden it made total sense why he was down at the pier ready to scare all the children buying balloons from that balloon vendor, and we just thought he had issues, shame on us for judging him, but more on judging later. But based on his very clever Flashforward he was destined to meet our little rocker Japanese girl (if anyone is keeping score we now have Japan, China, and Korea covered, expect to see Canada next week). But Keiko while a bio mechanical engineer who worked so hard in life to not work in the resturant was still forced to serve tea at work. Have to love those equal rights! You go girl!
Instead our little purple haze fangirl went all Woodstock on those corporate guys and got herself a pink slip and some black ink. (that was a colorful sentence). Which of course didn't fly well with her mom and in what was a little cliche they had a fight and left to never be seen again. Mommy was so disapointed that her daughter wasn't going to find a good husband, maybe she shouldn't have judged the "white boy" at the door so quickly. Here is an artist and a doctor, looks like mommy would have approved. And to me that was one of the things that made the whole storyline just work, everything fell perfectly into place, to me that was some great writing. Best of all the little twist in the end where you had thought that he was going to have to find her, but in actuality she came to LA looking for him, to a great Dillion song none the less, it was to me at least magical.
"First rule of text messaging is, you do not talk about text messages. Second rule of text messages is, YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT TEXT MESSAGES." I'm sorry I just love that movie. Anyway to my point has a text message ever brought so much hostility before (don't answer that) My God what is up with those two going raving mad when Mark asked them about the text? Ok sure being accused of something sucks but can't we all be adults and just say, "Mark it wasn't me, I wouldn't do that." But no we need to jump off the deep end in both cases, my money is that the bearded ex-soon to be again-drinker did it, becuase well he's got some issues of his own to deal with. Oh and speaking of his issues, doesn't it seem a little oh I don't know stupid to get all aquisatory with the FBI agent that jumped through some hoops to dig up your dead daughter and was looking into a private military for you, maybe that's just me though. And so what his daughter has daddy issues... Oh how I'd love to make some jokes there about her pole dancing but having trouble becuase she only has one leg, but I can't because I told my wife I'd clean up my writing. Either way that guy (I can't remember his name) was out of line, he really needs to chill out a little bit, maybe he should go have a drink or something...
Next week (2 weeks from now) looks pretty good, this show is really starting to come together and I really like it. I've been watching V and I really want to like that show, but FF I really like, it just seems to get better each week.

Ok so my wife got on me about my write up and it being a little too rough. I have to agree, the goal is to try and make it a very rough unpolished emotional take on what I watch, but at the same time there are limits.
This blog really is only for my amusement because I'm obviously not the most skilled writer in the world, if I was then I'd be writing actual reviews. My point here is offer up theories, much like the e-mail chain that started all of this a couple years ago. So I'll keep the language in check a little better, but no promises on the prose.
And if you are reading, thanks for reading, I crave attention, as Dede said, "It's a first born curse." V is tonight. woot!

Flash Forward - Free falling
I've come down a little bit off the "HOLY FUCKING SHIT!" feeling that I got at the end of last nights episode. Thank goodness there is another show that is willing to kick some ass and take names by not being afraid to show that it has some balls. I love Lost how you never never know what is going to happen, even after 5 years it has me guessing, a little too much at times, but at least I never know what I'm going to get. Flashforward last night showed that it can play with the big boys.
So last week I was discussing if the future could be changed per Simons explanation, oh and the show has earned it's characters names, Penny and Charlie can be put to rest. I still have my eye on you over there in Vland Juliet, but you kick ass anyway so I might let you slide... So it looks like that yes you sure as heck can change the future, which opens up even that much more potential for the show, "How the show is about knowing the future?" Ah but here is the great part now all the characters get to second guess themselves as they try to either create or cancel out the potential future. For example if Mark starts drinking now, it's no longer, "Well I guess I'm just screwed and I'm going to start drinking no matter what, fate has me by the balls." (I'm cursing a lot today) Not so fast Mark, now if you drink it means that it was all your fault all along, making you a alcoholic loser, awesome! If Olivia does Mr. Evil British dude then it's because she's a saucy English tart, oh wait I forgot she's an American on the show...
Best of all though, Demetri might not be dead after all, duh! Knew that was coming, I mean really he's one of the main main characters and he's good so it's not like they are going to kill him off, right Boone, Shannon, Anna, Libby, Mr. Eko, Locke, Juliet, Daniel, etc.. Nope I really can't go more than 2 sentences without bringing up Lost (January 29th). Getting back to my point, now there is a reason why him and his wife are seeing two different things, or maybe she just gets over it really quick and has her wedding anyway, or she's crazy in the future... But the possibility is there for Demetri to survive because the future isn't written in stone, sounds good huh? Not so fast again! Now he knows that he's going to be killed on March 15th if everything plays out according to plan (no saying if that is still possible because of our little skydiver friend) but if he's on the clock and now knows that he can catch the killer before he gets a chance to kill him, wouldn't that make him oh I don't know a little obsessive? (I think I see Jason Stathum [sp] "cranking" by as I type) So really he could just take on a "killem all attitude" and hope that he gets the right one, "I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure" - Aliens At the same time, such a rampage could bring about his death via revenge.
Which is the crux of everything now, how do you know if you're actually preventing or causing the future to happen? Al sure knew a way to change things... And what about our only other black actor on the show (I mean really if you're going to kill off someone did it have to be a black guy, the diversity school bus just got that much shorter, but we still meet our quotas [1 women for every 3 guys, 1 black guy, 1 Asian guy, 1 gay character bonus for being a women, a kid or two] just saying...) When they went to the blue hand club, (oh there is such a joke here I want to make) Al without fear grabs the gun and pulls the trigger, the others are amazed that he did it, but like he says, "he has a future." so based on what we knew up until that point, he couldn't be killed, none of them could for that matter. Al though might have been trying to actually do himself there though, because we're shown him looking up the the women that he accidentlly killed in the future. But because fate had a plan for him, there was no way that some random event was going to change the future for him, everything that was going to happen would be part of that script up until the fateful day. Unless he took out all shadow of a doubt that he could survive, hence the building base jumping without a paracuhe. So the future that he saw can never happen because he's dead. That doesn't mean that the women won't die anyway, but what you going to do?
It's like the British agent said, "Maybe the bird will just fly into another window." Meaning you're dead regardless, it's just that it might change how it happens, kind of a final destination thing there. But the women did go and tape up the window just in case, I mean, you might as well try.
And that's where we are, who can and will do what, and what effect will it have? My guess is that the women will live, I guess we're led to assume that is the case. So people without flashforwards the way it stands today, they are going to die, but that can be changed, it should get interesting.

V
So I got about 90% of the way through V last night and I have to say that I thought that it was pretty good. I'll give the show a pass on the fact that if anyone saw the old series that you pretty much already know what is going on on the show so really the big surprises that they had for the original miniseries aren't going to be there here. We know they are evil, we know they want to kill us all, we know they are lizard people, etc... But overall it seemed pretty fresh.
What I did like was that the reaction from the general population seemed to be pretty good, they were skeptical, and considering how Xenophopic we are (I've wanted to use that word for a long time) it makes sense that most people would freak out. But at the same time would be curious about a giant alien spacecraft arriving overhead. And in a great knock to Independence Day, I like how one of the kids said it was just like that, and the other said that that was a knock off from another TV show, guess which show...
So while some of the show might be a little predictable, it's still looks worth a watching because I have a feeling that there will be some twists and turns that will make it exciting like the holy grail of crazy shows, Lost. And speaking of Lost, Juliet is the lead character on V, so you can't go wrong there.
We only have 3 more episodes until the long break, but that's ok, I guess it was done to improve the show so ok cool with me, I have high hopes and almost no expectations.

Flash Forward - Catching up
Even though I pretty much only do this for my own enjoyment, I have been slacking for the one or two people that actually read this and to those rare exceptional individuals I apologize for falling behind with all of the travel the last couple of weeks. So without further ado it's time for some pointless observations on Flash Forward.
This weeks post is supposed to make up for three weeks worth of missing the show so I'm going to miss a bit, it's probably all going to sound and read a lot like Mark's FF in that it was very random because he was drunk at the time. That's a pretty nice revelation not so much that it says that he is going to be drinking (we already knew that) but in that everyone elses FF's are clear as day, so there shouldn't be any confusion in what was going on with anyone at the time of their FF. Which brings up one very very annoying point, why do the FF's come off as so random to us at home. I mean I guess it's standard now in TV that all memories have that random sketchiness to them, but in this case why, they are supposed to be clear as day.
But I have to say that I really like the drama that is building with this character, and for all the characters with bad futures, it's like their lives are starting to lose control as the date gets closer and closer, I'm sure towards the end of the season we'll be treated to absolute chaos, which I am always a fan of. But to my point, the drama in the show is actually pretty good, there is tension and it's being played very well by Mark and Penny (Olivia) Sorry but all people that were on Lost keep their Lost names until I say otherwise in my blog. The good doctor that decided to save Janice's baby making ability is forever known as PPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYY - Desmond
Speaking of Janice, let's talk about changing the future. Penny is sitting there in the operation room and as a good doctor should be removing her baby making parts in order to save her life as the other doctor suggested, instead she does the "risky" maneuver and saves her womb. Ok you're terrified of the future this might be a good opportunity to change the future, no womb, no sonogram, no sonogram and all of a future that Janice had, doesn't take place. Sure it's a little cold, ok very cold, but it would prove that the future is not set in stone. But I think the show doesn't want us to see that quite just yet, if so then the drama might change as people know that they aren't on a collision course with April 29th. I think before too long we're going to see that the future can be changed as Charlie (Simon) alluded to (more on that in a moment). And then when that happens everyone is going to be trying to make sure what happened either happened or doesn't happen, but the trick will be what actions help the future and which actions hurt it, ah more chaos! Mark my word (not by drinking) that everything is going to get all fucked up before we get to the end of the season and it's going to be a blast.
So why do I think the future can be changed, it's as simple as Simon says. Oh snap, nice play on words there Adam =) As Charlie told the soon to be dead hooker (ok I don't know if she was a hooker or not, but he sure as heck killed her, and wouldn't we all prefer if she were a hooker rather than someone that had a life outside of that train.... I thought so. I mean who knows maybe she was the next Vivian (Pretty Women, Julia Roberts, hello!) but I'll assume not, but I digress. Charlie (Simon) tells her some pretty heavy quantum physics and thankfully since I watch a lot of the science channel I understood what the heck he was saying. For those of you that don't like monotone shows that remind you of school (Hi Jen) let me break it down. Simply put there are an infinite number of universes and every possible outcome that can happen in the universe does happen in another universe. So for example in another universe I'm king of the world (yes that king riding on the front of the Titanic), so basically anything can and does happen in some way in some universe. Here is another little tidbit that he brought up that relates to that, on a subatomic level particles can exist in two places at the same time, WTF you say, hey I don't really get it either but thankfully there are people on the science channel doing that work for me. If you combine the two theories then it basically means that everyone on the show is existing in a universe and the outcome in that universe is set, but they also exist in another universe with a different outcome, so it is possible to change the future. As Charlie said the cat in her hand can live or die, and in fact both outcomes happen, the question is what outcome is everyone going to choose?
And there my friends is the crux of everything on the show, the experiment that Charlie and British dad that gets to keep his British accent. Anyone else catch on that there are three British actors on the show but one of them has to use an American accent? Just interesting, I guess it's better than being Chinese on the show, those evil Chinese people. Of you could be Somali (however you spell it) you're the hapless victim of some global conspiracy, what was I saying...
Oh yeah the show is about trying to move between universes, why I have no idea, thank you very much terrorist blond head lady, but that's what it is, the two guys that had a part of it were scientists and one of them is a bad guy (Charlie AKA Simon) and the other guy is pretty neutral at this point, maybe he was trying to find a version of his son that wasn't Autistic (which by the way Autism is a serious deal please give to those in need) who knows, but it's sounds good to me.
Ok that's enough for today, I missed like a million things but it was three weeks, this week I'll do better.
Oh and watch V, Juliet is in it. I'm going to write that up too, because it's a show about lizard aliens that land on Earth to take it over, how can I not watch that.
